for Brad (and Lindsey)

Sunday, March 16, 2008

Jim beat me to it. But I'll post anyway. Today, we ran in the 8k portion of the Shamrock Run in downtown portland. There was free chowder and "beverages" afterward, but I didn't feel much like either after a sprint to the finish. It was a lot of fun, and running again feels good. I'm looking forward to July and the Cape Mountain Trail Run in Florence!

Thanks for running with me today Jim, it's more fun running with a buddy.

...and thanks to our awesome wives who braved public transit and early morning feedings (of the children) to watch their men run around.

Oh, yes...and Henry decided he wanted to ride in this family's wagon. They obliged! I'm not quite sure what is going through Stephanie's head though??

Nothing amazing in this video. It's just fun to see how quickly Jack is changing! I'm lucky I get to hang out with him so much!

For those of you who don't often click my blog links, you need to go here to my sister-in-law's page. There are some awesome pictures of Jack and his little cousin Abby together. Don't miss it!

It's been a good couple days. Saturday was the downtown walk (con cupcakes). Then on Sunday after church, Jim, Eric and I decided to take advantage of the sunshine and play 9 quick holes of golf. The weather was great! I even put on shorts...thankfully, you can't see my white legs in this picture.

This is where Jim got a hole-in-one (wink, wink).
This morning, Jim and I ran 4 miles before work...and before the rain came. It was good timing. After a day at work, Becky and decided to take Jack and Lily for a walk. If I wasn't already certain, Jack proved tonight that he is my son. From the moment we stepped outside, he couldn't take his eyes of the sky, the clouds, the trees (except when his hat fell down over his eyes, and then he started screaming). Just before the walk I was telling Becky how pretty the sky was on my way home, and apparently, Jack agrees.

Oh, yeah...this is the unhappy factor...For some strange reason the shape of Jack's head, combined with the way he moves it, forces every single hat he wears to slide down over his eyes. He doesn't really appreciate it!

Today Jim, Becky, Jack and I took a little trip downtown. In the face of a forecast of constant showers, we ventured out for a nice little walk around the Pearl District. we started at REI and then walked to Whole Foods for lunch. After that, we headed to Saint Cupcake for a delicious desert, and stopped off at a camera store on the way back to the car. It was sunny and beautiful almost the entire time! So much for the forecast. As we neared the car, it started to get a little "drizzly" and after we shut the doors, it really started coming down. Apparently we timed it perfectly.

Here's the little Bunch family on the stroll:

Jim, giving a hearty "thumbs-up" for some delicious looking (and tasting) cupcakes. Pictured from left to right: vanilla with vanilla butter cream frosting (Jim), coconut cream (Mike), chocolate vegan (Becky - what can I say...it was in Portland...you know how it is).

Jim making quick work of his cupcake....

...until he got it stuck up his nose. Butter cream frosting is apparently quite sticky.

Jack protested his being left out of the cupcake eating by spitting up on Becky shortly after this pic, but what else is new. Jim captured it all on camera, so that may be making a blog appearance at some point. It was a fun afternoon!
